01Who provides the service
VietFam is provided by [Operator name], referred to below as "we".
By creating an account or accepting an invitation into a family, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.
02Your account and the keeper
You need one account, tied to your email address, to use VietFam. Keep your password to yourself, and tell us if you think someone else has used it.
Every family (a "house") has a keeper — the person who founded it or was handed it. The keeper decides who may join, what each member may do, and speaks for the family when we need a decision.
The keeper is responsible for making sure the relatives recorded in the house know about it and agree to it, as set out in the privacy policy.
03What members may post
Members add names, dates, places, photos, stories and posts about their family. You keep whatever rights you hold in what you add.
You give us only the licence we need to store, display and back up that content for the members of the house. We do not sell it, use it to train models, or show it to anyone outside the house.
Add only photos and stories you have the right to share, and only about people who would not object.
04Who joins a house
Only the keeper — and anyone the keeper names — can invite people into a house or remove them. We never add anyone to a family ourselves.
An invitation link is personal: pass it on only to the relative it was meant for.
05Acceptable use
Use VietFam for your family, the way a family would. Do not:
- impersonate someone, or record people who have asked not to be recorded;
- upload material you have no right to;
- harass other members;
- try to get into houses that are not yours, or to disrupt the service.
We may suspend an account or a house that breaks these rules, after telling the keeper where we can.
06Availability and backups
We aim to keep VietFam available around the clock, but we cannot promise it — there will be maintenance, and there may be outages.
We take a snapshot of every house daily and keep an off-site copy, so that a lost server does not mean a lost family tree.
Backups are a safety net for the whole service, not a personal archive: use "Take it home" (export) for your own copy.
07Free tier and paid plans
VietFam has a free tier that is enough for most families, and paid plans for those who need more room or more houses.
What each plan includes and what it costs is on the pricing page; those prices, not this document, are the ones that apply. We will tell you at least 30 days before a paid price changes.
08Ending, and taking your data home
You can export a house at any time from its settings — "Take it home" gives you the tree and its media in standard formats (Gramps XML and GEDCOM).
You may delete your account whenever you like. A keeper may delete a house; we will ask twice, because it is gone for the whole family.
We may end the service, or your access to it, with reasonable notice — and, where we can, enough time to export first.
09Limitation of liability
VietFam is provided as it is. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for lost data, lost profits, or indirect damage arising from your use of the service.
Our total liability to you for any claim is limited to what you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited under Vietnamese law.
10Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of Vietnam. Disputes we cannot settle together go to the competent court in Vietnam.
If any part of these terms cannot be enforced, the rest still applies.
